Beating Depression Like a Boss!

Depression is like an old, unwelcome memory.  It’s part of who we are as humans, a race that is biologically linked to wallow.  Depression is innate—it is always there, just looming in the surface.  It can break you, but only if you really let it.

These days, you can get just about any anti-depression product and/or services in the market, with each costing at least a few thousand bucks (more reason to be depressed then).  The first crucial step to beating depression is actually acknowledging its presence in your life.  Depression is a mental illness.  Whether it is brought about by external factors or self-induced, the good news is that it can be treated.

Another good news is that you can concoct your own “happy pill” to chase the blues away!  Here are some suggestions on how you can create your own DIY Anti-Depression Plan.

Log Out of Facebook
A recent study conducted by Edinburgh Napier University concludes that the more friends you have on Facebook, the more stressful it can be for you.  Admit it, those rejected friend requests and photos of your friends traipsing the world are getting you riled up.  Logging onto social networking sites isn’t really socializing.  Log out of Facebook and get out there!

The Sexy “Fountain” of Youth
Regardless of the etymology surrounding the French term for orgasm (la petite mort), the sexual release does have the power to render someone dead to the world.  That is, at least for a few hours.  Orgasms increase the hormone DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone), which, in turn, makes you glow, boosts your immune system, beats your depression, and extends your life span.

“I Dare…Myself.”
Yes, dare yourself into something you’ve never done before.  This seemingly simple act of grabbing an opportunity is an echo of an absolute inner strength:  you’re keeping your weaknesses at bay.  Depression feeds on weakness.  Beat your weakness to a pulp by, say, going skinny dipping.

Switch Lemon Shots with Lemonade
Drinking yourself to oblivion (and this doesn’t pass for socializing either) will not alleviate your depressed state.  So instead of doing lemon shots at night, juice the fruit in the morning and enjoy a glass of lemonade instead.  Lemons are not just rich in Vitamin C.  This fruit is often recommended for patients suffering from memory lapses.

Seriously, Take Charge of Your Health and Life
The truth is this:  you are the only person in this world can make the biggest changes in your own life, especially your health.  Your doctors can only do their roles once you seek their help.  Your prescriptions can only work if you take them religiously while making necessary changes towards a healthier lifestyle.  Be personally responsible for your life.  It’s yours.  No one else can live it for you.
